15 years is what Karzai and McChrystal say it will take before we can leave Afghanistan

U.S. and International Community Will Have to Help Finance Afghan Security ‘Until Their Economy Grows,’ McChrystal Says

By Edwin Mora

The top commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, told CNSNews.com on Thursday that the United States and the international community will have to finance Afghan security until the Afghan economy grows enough to support that expense.

“I think Afghanistan has to secure itself, and the right number is going to be determined by how big the insurgency is, what we can do,” McChrystal said in an exclusive interview after he testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on a second day of hearings on Capitol Hill..

“You know we’re going to have to help finance this,” he continued. “We and the international community are going to have help Afghanistan finance this until their economy grows to it.” He added: “The problem is, if you don’t build enough security forces, you can’t protect the people and it’s, it’s just essential. So I think we just have to work for it.”

McChrystal’s comment came in response to CNSNews.com’s inquiry of how McChrystal plans to reconcile his goal of training 400,000 troops with Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s recent comment that his country will need support for at least 15 years to be able to secure itself.

Karzai said he hopes that the international community -- "in particular the United States as our first ally, would help Afghanistan...in terms of its economic ability as well as eventually to sustain the force that would serve Afghanistan with the right numbers and the right equipment."

This is the reality on the ground....
is this what we're fighting for?

Bud Deraps, What Are We Doing To Our Own? Depleted Uranium

Bud Deraps, an 82 year old WWII Navy veteran, speaks out against Depleted Uranium

Depleted Uranium - The Ultimate Dirty Bomb

Depleted uranium is considered a weapon of mass destruction and is banned for use in warfare by international law, yet the US and Israel use it routinely.

The US military has used thousands of tons of depleted uranium in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq sickening civilians and its own soldiers by the tens of thousands.

Depleted uranium contaminates food, water, air and land forever. It's the ultimate "dirty bomb."
